Our Village: Freeport Community Students Succeed.

Freeport, New York is located on the South Shore of Long Island in Nassau County.  Our Dollars for Scholars chapter is a nonprofit foundation that supports academic success of students who reside in the Freeport School District. As part of Scholarship America's national network of locally based, volunteer-driven Dollars for Scholars chapters, our mission is to mobilize our community on behalf of postsecondary education success for our students.

Freeport Dollars for Scholars is a nonprofit  foundation which began in 1988 and gave out its first scholarships at the end of the 1989 school year.  Funds we raise are used for Freeport School District, resident student scholarships. Scholarships are given to students graduating from grade 6 at Atkinson School, grade 8 Dodd Middle School and seniors Freeport High School. , also reach out to private and parochial high school students intending to seek higher learning who reside in the Freeport Public School District.  The Awards Ceremony is held in May at Freeport High School in cooperation with the Freeport Public Schools.`

We welcome new volunteer members and new ideas for raising funds for our students.
